X-Men Legends 2: Rise of Apocalypse
game: X-Men Legends 2: Rise of Apocalypse
review | 11/11/05 | Shawn Rider
X-Men Legends 2: Rise of Apocalypse is the sequel to last year\'s breakout hit, and the return of the franchise is triumphant. The PSP version of Rise of Apocalypse features all the goodness of the home console versions, including a robust online multiplayer mode that lets you team up with players from all over the world. With a great X-Men story, super satisfying action-RPG gameplay, and loads of extras and unlockables, Rise of Apocalypse is one of the best things out for PSP right now.

No PlayStation LIVE for PS3
game: Playstation 3
news | 11/03/05 | George Holomshek
Sony recently confirmed to Playstation Magazine that they will utilize a non-centralized system for online multiplayer on the PS3, sticking with their departure from Microsoft\'s Xbox Live or Nintendo\'s Wi-Fi Connection services. Sticking with an online gaming strategy similar to how the PS2 currently handles online gaming means that game publishers have much greater flexibility with their online content. It also means that gamers will need different accounts for each game they play online, and also makes it more difficult for developers to insure an even playing ground in online multiplayer.

Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh to Head HALO Adaptation
game: Halo
news | 10/04/05 | Shawn Rider
In an announcement sure to get gamers everywhere all worked up, Microsoft announced at the X05 Amsterdam expo that Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh (creators of the Lord of the Rings film trilogy and the upcoming King Kong) will be Executive Producers on the upcoming Halo movie. The news also means that Academy Award winning New Zealand effects house, Weta Digital, will also be involved in the movie, which is another great sign. It looks like Halo might just set the bar a little higher for the old game-to-film adaptation, just as it did for the console-based FPS and again for console-based online multiplayer.

The long-awaited sequel to the reigning king of racing simulations is finally here, but is Gran Turismo 4 everything you ever wanted? MechAssault 2: Lone Wolf
game: MechAssault 2: Lone Wolf
review | 02/14/05 | Sarah Wichlacz
MechAssault was one of the standout titles on Xbox Live when it first launched. It paved the way for reliable online multiplayer and loads of content downloads. MechAssault 2: Lone Wolf amps up the multiplayer game and beefs up the single player story mode to boot. It's a great thing.

Articles Archive | 02/05/05 | Monica Hafer
We welcome back Monica, who returns valorous with a great contemplation of what it means to lose. All gamers, hardcore or casual, are well familiar with the feeling of getting stomped, splattered, shot, stymied, shut out, and stood up. Click the details link below for Monica's treatment, The Art of Losing.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars Review
game: Star Wars: The Clone Wars
review | 07/06/03 | Jeremy Kauffman
LucasArts kicks us down another title this week: Star Wars: The Clone Wars for Xbox. How does this version fare? The addition of online multiplayer modes is more than welcome, and it actually makes this mediocre game pretty entertaining. However, all is not perfect in the Republic, that\'s for sure. Capcom\'s radical visual take on auto racing has generated a lot of buzz for Auto Modellista. There is no doubt the game looks stunning, but what\'s under the hood? It turns out some 60 licensed vehicles, online multiplayer, and even a funky VJ mode for all you hipsters out there. Check out the complete review right here.

Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO Review (Xbox)
game: Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO
review | 04/02/03 | GF! Back Catalogue 10/2004 => 1995
Xbox fans arguably get the best version of Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO. Not only does the old-school Xbox controller XXL sport the best button setup for fighting games of all the default system controllers, but this version of the game supports online multiplayer. Thing you can hang with the elite Japanese fighters? We doubt it. Click here for more.

preview | 07/20/02 | Jeremy Kauffman
Sony\'s betting big money on SOCOM: US Navy Seals, and from what we\'ve seen, it\'s a safe bet. The game is being pushed as an online multiplayer title, but the single player game is really great already. Nice AI, team strategizing, serious realism, and just plain fun gameplay should get it on your list of ways to avoid homework. Click here.
